01 /About

Smart cities, built by Uzbeks, across two nations.

UzHack is one shared name for hackathons across WAYU’s international network: young people with Uzbek roots and international perspectives, building something together through technology.

× Malaysia

This edition, the Uzbekistan-Malaysia Tech Bridge, brings together multidisciplinary teams of Uzbeks who study, work or live in Malaysia to design practical smart-city solutions for Uzbekistan, with Fergana as the focus city, drawing on Malaysia’s smart-city experience.

  • Two nations, one team spirit

Uzbeks in Malaysia bring what they learn here back home to Uzbekistan.

  • Real smart-city problems

Apply technology to healthcare, mobility and education challenges that cities face today.

  • Multidisciplinary by design

Engineers, designers, business minds and planners each bring something a team needs.

  • Ideas with a path forward

Promising solutions may be shared with relevant stakeholders in Uzbekistan.

02 /Mascot

Meet Polvon.

Polvon is the face of UzHack: a red panda with Uzbek roots and an international outlook, inspiring young people to build something together through technology.

What Polvon stands for

  • Technology
  • Collaboration
  • International perspectives

What’s in a name?

In Uzbek, “polvon” means a strong, brave champion. It is the spirit we hope every team brings to the hackathon: bold enough to take on real problems, and strong enough to see them through together.

Why a red panda?

Red pandas are curious, clever and quick on their feet, just like a good hackathon team. Their fur even matches our colours: red, black and white.
